Sutton has become the first council in the UK to sign up to the Evening Standard’s Get London Reading campaign which is being run in partnership with Volunteer Reading Help (VRH), which aims to tackle illiteracy by encouraging volunteers to go into London’s schools to provide one-on-one reading support for struggling pupils.
