New parking and waiting restrictions in Wallington North.

by Barry on 25 February, 2021

The Council is proposing to introduce or amend a number of parking and waiting restrictions in Wallington North.  Nearly all the additional restrictions are planned with safety in mind and the majority are double yellow lines leading up to road junctions.

Please take a few minutes to see how these proposals affect you.  It is complex as there are a number of roads involved, so pour yourself a cup of tea or a glass of wine before diving in.  The maps need to be viewed on a decent sized screen so best to use a PC, laptop or decent sized tablet.

You can download a pdf of the proposals here:https://www.sutton.gov.uk/downloads/file/5079/tmo_consultation_documents_wallington_north

You can view a map: https://lbos.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=61a44d18d1f946c5b86b11df6c041f7b    You will need a good sized screen to view the map.

Copy of my comments to the survey regarding yellow lines in The Manor Way

I support the proposal and my reasons are given below

Please add any comments you wish to make in regards to these proposals:

In Ther Manor Way it has been so much better during Covid lockdown but only yesterday, 5th March 2021, there was congestion and inconsiderate parking due to a Wallington Grammar School event, (possibly covid testing pre opening of the School).
As soon as the school reopens I can foresee a return to traffic and parking difficulties and am concerened that we will start to re-experience non collection of waste, deliveries abandonded, noise and pollution, and a worry that emergency vehicles will not be able to access the road.

    Another observatiion:
I know ‘Red Line” restrictions are not a Borough issue, but we get people parking on the Double Red lines at the entrance to the road which blocks exit and entry to The Manor Way and Croydon Road. When vehicles meet at the junction, either or both vehicles have to reverse to facilitate exit or entry.
I support a ‘timed’ yellow line resticting parking since this will ease problems for all residents of The Manor Way.
