Lovely mayor making ceremony and a thanks to those who supported the Mayor during 2021/22. Trish Fivey was nominated as the Mayor again for 2022/23 and Cllr Richard Clifton and Cllr Marian James proposed and seconded her appointment. Three amendments presented by opposition: all were voted down.

Why because we have a committee system and all decisions are made by the cross party committees.

The behaviour of opposition was extraordinarily poor coupled with heckling every time Ruth Dombey (Leader of the Council) spoke.

The denouement of the official proceedings was that oppositions amendments were lost and to note that in Sutton Conservative’s Labour and Independents are one party!
